Proposals for Marine Reserves Under Consideration
Governor Kulongoski directed the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife and Oregon's Ocean Policy Advisory Council (OPAC) to develop a network of marine reserves in state waters to help protect, sustain, and restore marine ecosystems and wildlife for future generations. September 30, 2008 was the deadline for Oregonians to nominate special places as marine reserves. For news on this planning process and to see the proposals, go to the state's Oregon Marine Reserves website.
